“Your website access has been restricted for downloading pirated software” online survey virus – how to remove?

Online message “Access Restricted!” when trying to access popular websites (Facebook, YouTube, Google, Bing etc.) is a Hosts file hijacker virus. This redirect virus is created to force unsuspecting PC users into filling online surveys. Cyber criminals who are responsible for creating this scam are receiving commissions every time anyone completes these deceptive online surveys. Internet users should be aware that filling such online surveys could easily end up in serious privacy issues or may lead to a huge phone bill.

Most commonly such online surveys are used to collect user’s private information or to force users into subscribing for some costly mobile services. In some cases Internet users are forced into downloading some software or browser add-on which may lead to serious security related issues. This Hosts file hijacker virus is being spread using fake downloads – users are tricked into downloading this virus which disguises itself as being some hacking tool, video codec etc. This type of scam (misleading Hosts file modification) is not new, this security threat is similar to previously seen “You have been blocked from our website! virus.

Cyber criminals who are responsible for creating this scam are hopping that unsuspecting PC users will believe that they can’t access certain websites because of downloading pirated software and will fill one of online surveys after clicking “UNLOCK” button. In reality such online messages are not used by any legitimate website, it’s a scam created by Cyber criminals.

Screenshot of a fake message “STOP! Please verify you are human!”:

This message on one’s Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, Mozilla FireFox etc.) is a clear indication of the presence of Hosts file hijacker virus. Don’t fill any online surveys and use the provided removal guide to eliminate this scam from your computer.

“Your website access has been restricted for downloading pirated software” virus removal:

Internet browsers redirect to a malicious website which tries to force computer users into filling online surveys are caused by a Trojan which modifies one’s operating system’s Hosts file. To remove this Trojan download a recommended anti-spyware software and run a full system scan.

remover for “You have been blocked from our website!” virus

After eliminating this Trojan you should check your operating system’s Hosts file. Information stored in this file is responsible for resolving canonical names of websites – if the information in this file is changed by malicious program you could encounter redirect problems while surfing the Internet.

Hosts file is used to resolve some canonical names of websites to ip addresses. When it is changed, the user may be redirected to malicious site still seeing good URL in address bar. It is very hard to find out if the site is genuine or not, when hosts file is modified. To fix this, please download Microsoft Fix It tool, that restores your hosts file to Windows default. Run this tool when downloaded and follow the on-screen instructions.
Systemcare-antivirus.org – Malicious website spreading fake antivirus software

Systemcare-antivirus.org is a malicious website created by Cyber criminals who are responsible for releasing a rogue antivirus program called System Care Antivirus. While this website may seem legitimate in reality it was created to cloak a real deceptive business model – infecting Internet user’s computers with fake security program and then scaring them into purchasing it’s useless full version. System Care Antivirus originates from a family of fake antivirus programs called WinWebSec, it reports non existent security infections hoping that unsuspecting PC users would fall for such trickery and would buy it’s licence key.

Systemcare-antivirus.org website is created to give support for this rogue antivirus software, Cyber criminals are hopping that PC users will visit this site and will believe that they are dealing with a legitimate security suite. Other possible reasons for creating this website could be tricking payment processing companies into believing that System Care Antivirus is a real security program. Notice that there are several different programs which are called “System Care Antivirus” – one has a green user’s interface and is available to download at systemcare-antivirus.org, the other one has a red interface and it installs on user’s computers using various exploit kits and Trojans.

Screenshot of systemcare-antivirus.org malicous website:

Notice that visiting this website is not recommended. Most commonly Internet users visit this site when seeking support for System Care Antivirus program. Internet users should understand that this program is totally fake – it pretends to detect various security threats (which doesn’t actually exist on users PC) hoping that PC users would purchase it’s licence key. Cyber criminals have created two variants of System Care Antivirus – the one with a green interface is semi-rogue, it users a virus definition database of ClamAV (legitimate free open-source antivirus program) and it doesn’t detect non-existent security infections – it is used to cloak their real rogue business model or distributing fake antivirus software.

Notice that this variant of System Care Antivirus doesn’t detect non existent security threats, and doesn’t force computer users into purchasing it’s licence key. This variant must be created to trick payment processing companies so that Cyber criminals could manage money transactions etc. The real purpose of this semi-rogue software is cloaking a real rogue business model of distributing System Care Antivirus (WinWebSec).

Computer users gets redirected to this website after clicking “Registration” button in System Care Antivirus (both variants). Internet users are asked to pay 99$ for 12 Months licence – paying this amount equals to sending one’s money to Cyber criminals. Don’t enter your banking information when asked by System Care Antivirus – it’s a scam. If you have already payed for this rogue software you should contact your credit card company and dispute the charges – explain that you have been tricked into buying a fake antivirus program. You should also consult with your credit card company about the security of your banking information.

System Care Antivirus – how to remove?

System Care Antivirus is a fake antivirus program which strives to trick PC users into purchasing it’s useless licence key. It’s a malicious software which imitates a legitimate security program and tries to force unsuspecting computer users into buying it. Most commonly this bogus program installs on user’s operating system using found security vulnerabilities, after infiltration it will make certain registry modifications and will block execution of installed software, disable task manager and will hijack Internet browsers.

This fake security scanner originates from a family of rogue antivirus programs called Rogue:Win32/Winwebsec, previous it’s variant was called AVASoft Antivirus Professional. PC users should understand that none of the information displayed by System Care Antivirus is real, all the indicated malware and virus infections are imaginary.

System Care Antivirus is being distributed using various exploit kits which are capable of detecting the security vulnerabilities of one’s operating system or installed software and injecting it with malicious code. The main purpose of this rogue program is forcing computer user’s into buying it’s full version (99$) – notice that paying for this bogus software would equal to sending one’s money to Cyber criminals, furthermore you would also give away your banking information which could easily be used for other rogue purposes.
